The Hyundai Elexio is a compact crossover SUV to be manufactured by Hyundai through their Beijing Hyundai joint venture. It is Hyundai's first EV developed exclusively for the Chinese market.

Overview

Development was led by Hyundai's R&D center in Shanghai. It was expected to launch in 2026[1] but the launch was rescheduled to late 2025. The Elexio name was revealed on May 1st, 2025.[2]

The Elexio was officially unveiled on May 7th, 2025.[3]

The model has full-width light bars on both ends. The rear light bar has slight curvatures at the rear.[4]

A 27-inch HUD is expected to come with the Elexio. The infotainment system will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. An advanced ADAS system developed by Huawei will also be utilized.

The Elexio is rumored to launch in the third quarter of 2025 at a starting price of 140,000 yuan.

Powertrain

It was rumored that the Elexio would use the E-GMP 400v architecture shared with the Kia EV3 and Kia EV4 which means the model will use a front-wheel-drive layout.[5] After the reveal it was confirmed to be based on the 800v architecture.[6] The battery capacity is 101.7 kWh. The range is expected to go up to 435 miles. The Elexio can be fast-charged from 30% to 80% in 27 minutes.[7]

An all-wheel-drive version was confirmed on June 20, 2025. The power output ranges from 214 horsepower in the FWD version to 312 horsepower in the AWD version. The battery is supplied by BYD's battery subsidiary FinDream.[8]
